What is FSI and Why Is It Important?
FSI quantifies the number of fiber support points per unit area on the paper side. Each MD/CD yarn intersection = a fiber anchoring point. Higher FSI = more uniform fiber mat = better retention + fewe
Tissue Paper Production: Optimizing Forming Fabric Selection
A specialized guide for tissue producers on forming fabric selection and optimization. Covers low-basis-weight sheet support and dewatering requirements for 14–22 gsm tissue grades.
What Mesh Count Should I Choose for My Forming Fabric?
Tissue (<40 gsm)→70-95 threads/cm. Culture (40-120 gsm)→50-70. Packaging (80-200 gsm)→35-55. Heavy-weight (200-400+ gsm)→25-40. Finer mesh = better fiber support but lower drainage. The right mesh is
How Much CFM Do I Need for My Forming Fabric?
Forming-fabric air permeability must be selected by construction, test method, furnish, drainage, vacuum, speed and fiber-support requirements—not a universal grade table.
