Culture/Fine Paper (40-120 gsm): 50-70 threads/cm — balanced fineness and drainage.
Packaging Paper (80-200 gsm): 35-55 threads/cm — moderate mesh for heavy basis weights.
Heavy-Weight Grades (200-400+ gsm): 25-40 threads/cm — coarse mesh for high drainage demand.
Key Principle: Finer mesh = better fiber support but lower drainage. The optimal mesh is the finest count that still provides adequate drainage at your target operating speed.
