Packaging Paper Dryer Fabric: An Anonymised Project Profile

Designing a dryer fabric around real dryer-section conditions

Packaging-paper machines place demanding loads on dryer fabrics. Heat, edge
wear, contamination, tracking stability and moisture-profile consistency all
affect the operating result. This project profile explains how PAPTEX turns
those observations into a technical dryer-fabric recommendation.

Operating challenge

The engineering objective is rarely just to replace a worn fabric. The mill
also needs to determine whether a service-life or drying problem is connected
to the fabric design, seam, air balance, cleaning, guide-roll condition, steam
conditions or operating profile.

Engineering approach

For a flat-yarn dryer-fabric project, PAPTEX reviews the paper grade,
dryer-group position and current operating symptoms. The proposal considers
permeability, yarn geometry, thermal and hydrolysis resistance, edge
reinforcement, seam type and dimensional stability.

The requested information includes the paper grade and moisture target,
dryer-section position and temperature, trim width and speed, current fabric
specification, observed edge wear or tracking issue, and the installation
window.

Implementation support

The recommended fabric is supplied with installation and tensioning guidance.
PAPTEX can support the review of tracking, cleaning and moisture observations
during commissioning so that the next replacement specification is based on
site conditions rather than a generic fabric grade.

Important disclosure

This article is an anonymised technical project profile. It deliberately
excludes customer identity, country, cost savings and life-extension
percentages that have not been tied to an approved source.

Request a dryer-fabric recommendation

Share your dryer position, fabric permeability, machine speed, trim width and
current failure mode. PAPTEX will help identify the parameters needed for a
fit-for-purpose dryer-fabric proposal.
