High-Speed Tissue Forming Fabric: An Anonymised Project Profile

Stabilising formation on a high-speed tissue machine

High-speed tissue production leaves little margin for inconsistent drainage,
wire marking or premature machine-side wear. This anonymised project profile
sets out the engineering workflow PAPTEX uses when a tissue mill needs a
forming fabric matched to its furnish, vacuum system and quality targets.

Operating challenge

The operating team needs to balance stable drainage, strong fibre support and
durable machine-side performance. Those symptoms cannot be solved reliably from
a fabric description alone. A useful recommendation depends on the forming
table, vacuum profile, pulp mix, paper grade, sheet basis weight and the
condition of the current fabric.

Engineering approach

PAPTEX reviews the machine conditions with the mill and evaluates whether a
multi-layer forming fabric is appropriate for the required drainage curve and
sheet support. The proposed design is aligned to the fabric position, cleaning
method, tension range and wear environment.

The technical discussion normally covers paper grade and furnish, machine
configuration and speed, vacuum and foil conditions, the current fabric's
structure and service history, and the mill's priority between formation,
drainage, life, cleanliness and runnability.

Implementation support

Before installation, PAPTEX can provide fabric identification, installation
guidance and a parameter sheet for commissioning. During the run-in period, the
team tracks the operating observations agreed with the mill and adjusts the
recommendation only against the customer's actual machine data.

Important disclosure

This article is an anonymised technical project profile. Customer identity,
location, machine model and outcome figures are intentionally omitted until
customer evidence and disclosure approval are available.

Discuss your tissue-machine conditions

Send your tissue-machine speed, trim width, grade, forming-fabric position and
current issue. A PAPTEX engineer will recommend the information needed for a
technical fabric proposal.
