How Long Do Dryer Fabrics Last?

Dryer-fabric life has no universal day range

Flat-yarn, spiral and other dryer-fabric structures can have very different run lengths on different machines and positions. A fixed calendar estimate ignores temperature, hydrolysis risk, contamination, seam loading, alignment, tension, cleaning and outage strategy.

Track condition by dryer group

Record seam and pin condition, edge wear, yarn damage, deposits, permeability symptoms, tracking, tension and contact with machine parts. Photograph repeatable locations and note grade, speed and running time.

Connect condition to operation

Trend cross-machine moisture, sheet handling, steam per ton, pocket conditions, breaks, cleaning time and downtime for equivalent grades. Investigate whether deterioration comes from the fabric, guiding, rolls, ventilation, steam and condensate, furnish or cleaning practice.

Plan removal from risk and economics

Remove the fabric when an approved safety or quality limit is reached, failure risk is no longer acceptable, or measured operating cost justifies a planned change. Use tons produced and the documented removal reason so later fabric runs can be compared.
