Three Core Families

Start With the Machine Position, Then Discuss Structure and Parameters

The same parameter can serve a different operating objective in another position. This framework supports a technical discussion; it does not replace machine-specific engineering review.

Forming Fabrics

Support the fibre mat and drainage process in the forming section. Selection should consider paper grade, furnish, speed, basis weight, sheet-surface needs and the current fabric record.

Press Felts

Support mechanical dewatering and sheet transport in the press section. Record press position, nip configuration, load, incoming and outgoing moisture, vacuum and conditioning before selection.

Dryer Fabrics

Support the sheet through the dryer section and interact with ventilation. Permeability must be discussed with group position, pocket conditions, contamination, seam and sheet-support needs.

Selection Data

What to Collect Before a Model Recommendation

A complete data record is more reliable than applying one universal “best” model and makes the result of a later change easier to evaluate.

  • Paper grade, furnish and basis-weight range

  • Machine type, position, speed and width

  • Current clothing model, dimensions and operating record

  • Vacuum, shower, nip or pocket conditions

  • Defined problem and measured baseline

  • Photos, retired sample or failure-position record

These values apply only to the named model and source record. They are not guarantees for another model or every machine position.
